Yesssss! Oh my God. I got selected for the trip of the year!

And I quote, "We would like to invite you, as one of the specially selected BRATs to join our team of ...."

I'm so honored. Seriously.

But...
It costs RM 1050.00. Yeah. No joke...

Shit. How am I to pay for that? Who am I to ask that from? *sigh*

Unlike Lumut, I KNOW I wanna go to Sipadan (er...kidnap or no kidnap...). We're gonna go there to commemorate BRATs' 10 years in action and learn a little about marine conservation. We'll even make and deploy reef balls....artificial reefs for small reef fishes (kinda like Nemo, a clown fish, Dory, a..uhm...something fish, and the tough black and white fish in the dentist's office in Finding Nemo, only local fishes) to make homes from, since the real, alive ones are destroyed by blast fishing. How I know? Well, it's all on the letter...but I'm not uninformed, either. I've read about it somewhere. I just can't believe the opportunity for me to do it sits right in front of me in the form of 3 sheets of paper. My God.

Oh well.

If I can get the cash to go, great.

If I can't, tough luck.

Interesting! I'm hoping to pick up something about marine life/conservation when I get up to the Great Barrier Reef (incidently the starting point for the movie). So far, I've studied seahorses and other marine wildlife (courtesy of the great Aquariums and wildlife houses here). :) Is Sipadan ok to go to considering the kidnappings a couple of years/months back?
Note: I feel strongly against blast fishing and other sources of reef destruction (pollutions, rubbish dumping...etc). Reefs are gorgeous - help build ecosystems and etc. Bleh.
