First...argh. I admit I watch Akademi Fantasia, which is a Fantasy Singing Academy with 12 students to begin with. It's sort of a reality tv product that kicks off a student every week after a concert if they get the lowest votes through SMS. Lame, right? Yep. Well, I never voted, because I don't want to waste good money. And each vote will cost me 50 sen, PLUS another 20 for normal SMS cost. Well, the one who got kicked out today, her name is Rosma. And nobody believed it. Neither did I. everyone was so skeptical to the point that even the host checked and rechecked the name to make sure he called the right one...well. It shows once again how unfair life can be. This is no Amazing Race, where your own mistakes cost you your place. This ain't no Extreme Measures, where the weakest go. This is not even Survivor, where your own characteristics get you voted out. This is a petty, spiteful discriminating game where the family/friends who vote for you most will ensure you stay in there. And what of those who didn't get votes? They can't make it. Tasteless. TASTELESS. THE WHOLE BLOODY GIMMICK IS TASTELESS. Well, Rosma, my girl, I thought you were good enough to make it to the 5. I absolutely thought it was Nana or Liza, because they both weren't as good. But...well. You're one tough brat...as you say, Fine! Their lost! FINE!.

Off to another subject.

Now I know for sure I like being in smaller classes better. Heck. I loved my primary school days where the maximum students in class was 25. Minimum? 18. At least you get personal attention, intimate class settings, quiet, peaceful learning and everyone's one big happy (okay, which family don't have feuds?) family. Why? Because my class is a congested 42-membered class with half of them as bengang idiots who can only make noise and do nothing else. Fawk them...fawk fawk fawk fawk. Wish I can zap them out like Anakin Skywalker with my..er...light saber. Or something. That light thingy he used? There was only like, 15 students on Friday because half went for BM-History seminar while the rest cut school. For once Math lesson went with NO hitch, BM was peaceful because the teacher didn't threaten us with flying tomahawks, opps, water bottles every few minutes and English was good because the teacher is in a relaxed mood for once. Biology was the best. Not only class was reduced to 7 of us since the rest cut classes, we occupied only one table and the experiment was great. It involved an onion with leaves and roots sticking out and we were supposed to cut, boil and dye the roots and view it under the microscope, it was done individually, no hassle from big groups and we needed only one bunsen burner. Not only that, experiment was finished so fast we sat with our perky teacher chatting about dissecting rats, frogs and human corpses. Well..now I know bodies are imported from India, local university students can pool their money in groups, maybe 5 or 6 sharing one corpse. Well...after seeing how bad situation is in Bombay, India through Amazing Race...it's so heartbreaking that human life is almost worthless there. Anyway, my point is, I loved my extra-small class. Wish I can have this everyday...it's suffocating sharing class with 41 people...

Okay la. My head is telling my mind that it's getting kinda tired and my mind promised my head to sleep early because I have tuition and driving lesson tomorrow.

I think the prize money ASTRO is going to award the winners of this programme is too little for the time and effort put in by the participants. This show is watched by a lot of young people in this country and elsewhere. It is only fair to award at least RM20,000- RM30,000 for the 1st prize, RM10,000-RM15,000for 2nd prize and RM5,000 for third place. ASTRO is making tons of money, Don't be a sblood sucker and exploiting the talents of people unjustly.

4 me all of them are cool. they have their own style, voice and etc.from day one, i thought that Liza, Nana, Atie, Adi and Azza r goin' home but it seems like Liza r soooo lucky! maybe she's pretty but 4 me she's not as THAT pretty!!

AF tu kira ok lah what.. at least they r developing "quality" performers.. imagine memorising a song within 5 days, not to mention those dance steps of not only one song, but several...!!! they've done a real good job.
i thot nana shud've gone out ages ago cos she's one great pretender!

Vince is damn good; khai's cool, nija rocks & liza's sweet.. pity abt sahri leaving. he's got a good voice.

on the whole, astro shud keep AF running 4ever!

Hello. I am from Mexico, and here in Mexico "Akademi Fantasia" is a huge success, in fact, this was the most watched show in history of Mexico. "Akademi fantasia" started in Mexico with the name of "La Academia" or "The Academy", and it is the best reality show. There have been two editions of this show, and now they started a new show called "Desafio de estrellas" which means "Battle of stars" in which all the students from both editions of akademi are batteling week after week and at the end one will be the sole winner. it is really cool. I recomend you to visit www.laacademia.tv and www.desafiodeestrellas.tv which are the two links for the original shows.
The winners of the three shows plus most of the contestans have all cd's in the market and are the biggest sellers in Mexico and USA. pretty cool, isn't it?

by the way, the thing you critizise about how unfair it is this show, I totally agree with you. One case like that happened here in Mexico in the first edition, in which a girl called Laura was voted out after 5 weeks in the show, eventhough she was the best voice and the most beautiful girl. She eventually came back because in the show there was a concert with all the people who were kicked out of the show and three of them could return and she was one of them, but when she left the show everybody was shocked. Pretty much she got voted out because her and one guy were flirting too much and people didn't like that.

Well, what can I say "WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD OF REALITY SHOWS."
I know it's pretty unfair how they get kick off every week, specially for the students who really have the talent to make it to the top(Like, Laura). But, what can we do as fans?
In my opinion there are many strange things going on in these realities specially when they are a total hit like the first generation of "La Academia" (reality from Mexico)that we had in this country. First, I thought the same thing you did "this is a waiste of time and money" then, I was so into it that I couldn't miss any concert or any thing that had to do with it. So, I guess there is no other option for us that enjoy our favorites while they last in the reality, don't you think?. ;)

All the contestants for AF were great. My fear is for the final nite....don't you think the SMS might get jammed especially after the last singer? Look at what happen to Vince's vote!He was lucky I guess or he might be the one who got kicked out instead of Shahri ....jest b'coz he was the last singer that day!

I know it's based on the original Mexican show, and I think the Brits have a "Fame Academy" of their own, but it sorta sounds like American Idol...
There was a MAJOR dispute over who should have won in the finals because the person who had the most loyal fanbase (Clay Aiken - his fans are RABID, count me in as one of them LOL) lost out by about 0.5%. Voting was via phone and SMS, and many people complained that they couldn't get through the phonelines as they were continually jammed.

But no matter...Clay (And Ruben, the winner) got their US$1mil recording contracts, Clay's becoming a legend - broke lots of records already - and he's a superstar.

I wanna join. :(

Last sunday I saw parts of A.F. in the news and it's really similar to ours. La Academia was selled to Astro by TV Azteca the second largest tv company in Mexico (and since La Academia started, not very far to be the first one). La Academia started in July 2002 with 14 students, one of them was out every week but we can vote by a phone or cell call wich costs 20 pesos (around 2 american dollars). The winner received around 250,000 american dollars. Now 7 of the 14 ex-students have their own album and soe of them became actors and actrees too. The second generation of La Academia started in December 2002 with 18 students. This one haven't the same popularity as the 1st one. Only 1 of them have an album. In April 2003 started the Academia Master where both generations were competing but they weren't living in the same house. La Academia's third generation will start in September, I can't wait to watch it !!

I really can't wait for the finals this week and see voters messing up the phone system to reward looks over talent and substance. Why bother asking the "lucky" five who made it to sing at all? The crown (and the Suzuki Vitara keys) are as good as in Pretty Boy Vince's pocket, even if he screws up, and damn well all of you know it.

akademi fantasia is a great show.and this hav proved whn vince who is a chinese while the others r malays could manage into final. that was good. i mean i don't tink malaysian nowadayz r realy racis. they really did they job and choose the best among the best to be in the finals, except for rosma n sahri case. but maybe the voterz hav their own consequences. like...mebbe sahri don;t hav da package and rosma is in da way being a very very good pretender. i neva voted rosma coz i tink tat she has tis kind of attitude tat she acts good infront of u but she might be quite cruel behind ya...:)

I am 33-y/o mother of two and I find myself getting addicted to Akademi Fantasia after catching it on Astro the week Atie (who, I am sorry to say, can't sing to save her life...) got kicked. At first I was kinda 'disgusted' by the sheer 'exploitation of the masses' by Astro and those who run the programme but I found myself getting hooked bit by bit.
Personally, I don't think it really matters WHO gets the Vitara or 10K (and honestly, don't you think the prize money is TOO LITTLE?) but it would be better if the truly talented amongst them could get a recording contract or the recognition that they deserve for their talents.

Hey all =) I admit: I'm addicted to Akademi Fantasia..I only began watching the show 3 weeks ago, but have been catching up on past shows through AF@17..Anyway (in my oen humble opinion), Vince really is talented...I especially liked his rendition of Rindu Bayangan last week..He manages to breathe new life into older songs...so I fully support Vince..too bad I can't join in the voting(being that I'm not in Malaysia). Course, the other students have their own talents as well...Khai has a nice "rock-y" kinda voice ^_^, as does nija...Q: how much does a cat like nemo cost in Malaysia?
And I *do* think that the prize money is too little...after all their efforts during the past weeks...10k doesn't really seem enough..although i guess one could argue that being trained by professional teachers and the such while in the academy is reward enough, i still think they could increase the prize money a bit...

Hope Vince menang esok. Walaupun dia bukan melayu tetapi ketekunannya,kepekaannya terhadap muzik haruslah dipuji dan dicontohi. Memang semua orang boleh menyanyi tetapi bagaimana lagu itu dibawa dan pengetahuan tentang melodi lagu itu penting. I khuatir dengan pertandingan esok kerana kebanyakkan yang mengundi adalah terdiri daripada mereka yang tidak mempunyai pengetahuan tentang muzik. Asalkan penyanyi itu dapat menarik suara, itu sudah dikira bagus.Akan tetapi sumbeng ka....apa ka..... tidak dikira. Seorang penyanyi yang bagus mestilah tahu nak tarik suara macam mana. Bukan main tarik saja........
Liza juga boleh menjadi seorang penyanyi yang baik kalau diasuh. Perangai pun o.k. tak suka melawan cakap cikgu-2 di A.F.
